1. 子曰：“学而时习之，不亦说乎？有朋自远方来，不亦乐乎？人不知而不愠，不亦君子乎？”
The Master said, "Is it not pleasant to learn with a constant perseverance and
application?Is it not delightful to have friends coming from distant quarters?Is he not a man of complete virtue, who feels no discomposure though men may take no note of him?"
2. 子曰：“三军可夺帅也，匹夫不可夺志也。”
The Master said, "The commander of the forces of a large state may be carried off, but the will of even a common man cannot be taken from him."
3. 子曰：“吾十有五而志于学，三十而立，四十而不惑，五十而知天命，六十而耳顺，七十而从心所欲，不逾矩。”
The Master said, "At fifteen, I had my mind bent on learning.At thirty, I stood firm. At forty, I had no doubts.At fifty, I knew the decrees of Heaven.At sixty, my ear was an obedient organ for the reception of truth.At seventy, I could follow what my heart desired, without transgressing what was right."
4. 温故而知新，可以为师矣。
Exploring the old and deducing the new makes a teacher.
5. 知之为知之，不知为不知，是知也。
When you know a thing, to recognize that you know it and when you do not know a thing, to recognize that you do not know it, that is knowledge.
6. 人无远虑，必有近忧。
The Master said, 'He who gives no thought to difficulties in the future is sure to be beset by worries much closer at hand.'
7. 工欲善其事，必先利其器。
A craftsman, if he means to do good work, must first sharpen his tools.
8. 己所不欲，勿施于人。
The Master said, “Don't do to others what you don't want others to do to you.”
9. 学而不思，则罔；思而不学，则殆。
The Master said, "Learning without thought is labor lost; thought without learning is perilous."
10. 君子讷于言而敏于行。
The Master said, "The superior man wishes to be slow in his speech and earnest in his conduct."
