Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 A Brief Introduction to Chinese American Literature
Chinese literature is the positive reflection of the development of the American-Chinese literature. American-Chinese literature can date back to 1865 when daffodil started to write, but the time it become a literary phenomenon was during the Second World War. It could be regard as an isolated phenomenon when Daffodil started her writing because it has a specific background. She is a person of mixed blood who has half Chinese, she was born in America and was well-educated. She was different with the other Chinese. She was mainly focused on the short story that happened in the Chinese. Those stories were collected in the spring Mrs. Yu in 1912.It is till 1930s that Chinese began to write stories in English after daffodil. In 1935,Yutang Lin published his book our people owe country in America. This is a book about culture that introduce Chinese’s living style .It’s caused American’s attention when it published. Yutang Lin was regarded as a Chinese philosopher who can explain ancient Chinese wisdom. In the 1930s, the good earth that wrote by Pearl Buck and our people our ………………………………….

Amy Tan was born in Oakland, California, on February 19, 1952. Her parents had left China to settle in the United States in 1949. Amy
Tan grew up in the San Francisco. Tan’s father and one of her brothers were died of brain tumors when she was fourteen. This sad experience made her heart in a shadow for a long time. In 1968, her mother took her and the other surviving brothers to Switzerland, and start new life ……………..

3.1 The types of Mother-daughter Relationship in The Bonesetter’s Daughter
The Bonesetter’s Daughter told us the relationship between grandmother、mother and daughter in a Chinese immigrant families live in American .There two types of Mother-daughter Relationship in The Bonesetter’s Daughter. The relationship between Precious Auntie and Lu Ling, The relationship between Lu Ling and Ruth.
The relationship between Precious Auntie and Lu Ling was improved by the go forward step by step. Precious Auntie was the myth of that era, she is strong, smart, diligent but down on his luck. She attempted suicide when she get married because her father and husband died. Finally, she chose to live in this world to bring up her daughter. The relationship between Precious Auntie and ruling was typically Sinicism. Precious Auntie hided her identity in order to take care of her daughter. The love of Precious Auntie moved all of us. The education that Precious Auntie to ruling is step by step. The relationship between them was harmonious.
