Once upon a time there lived a poor widow and her son Jack.
从前，有一个很穷的寡妇和她的儿子杰克生活在一起。
One day, Jack’s mother told him to sell their only cow.
有一天，母亲告诉杰克要把他们唯一的牛卖掉。
Jack went to the market and on the way he met a man who wanted to buy his cow.
杰克于是到集市卖牛，在路上，杰克遇到了一个男人想买他的牛。
Jack asked, 'What will you give me in return for my cow?'
杰克问：“你要给我什么来换我的牛？”
The man answered, 'I will give you five magic beans!'
男人回答道：“我会给你五个魔豆！”
Jack took the magic beans and gave the man the cow.
杰克拿到了魔豆，把牛给了那个男人。
But when he reached home, Jack’s mother was very angry.
但是当他到家以后，杰克的妈妈非常地生气。
She said, 'You fool! He took away your cow and gave you some beans!'
她说：“你真傻！他牵走了你的牛，就只给你这些豆子！”
She threw the beans out of the window. Jack was very sad and he went to sleep without dinner.
她把豆子扔出了窗外。杰克非常伤心，没有吃晚饭就上床睡觉了。
The next day, when Jack woke up in the morning and looked out of the window, he saw that a huge beanstalk had grown from his magic beans!
第二天他睡醒时，朝窗外一看，看到从他的魔豆里长出了一根巨型豆茎！
He climbed up the beanstalk and reached a kingdom in the sky. There lived a giant and his wife.
他爬上豆茎，到达了天上的王国。那里住了一个巨人和他的妻子。
Jack went inside the house and found the giant’s wife in the kitchen.
杰克走进房子里，看见巨人的老婆正在厨房。
Jack said, 'Could you please give me something to eat? I am so hungry!'
他说：“你能给我一些吃的么？我太饿了！”
The kind wife gave him bread and some milk.
好心的妇人给了他面包和牛奶。
While he was eating, the giant came home. The giant was very big and looked very fearsome.
他正在吃的时候，巨人回家了。巨人非常的大，看起来非常可怕。
Jack was terrified and went and hid inside.
杰克很害怕，他躲了起来。
The giant cried, 'Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of an English man. Be he alive, or be he dead, I’ll grind his bones to make my bread!'
巨人大声咆哮着：“Fee-fi-fo-fum，我闻到了一个英国男人的血的味道！不管他是活的还是死的，我都要磨碎他的骨头做面包！”
The wife said, 'There is no boy in here!'
他的妻子说：“这里没有人！”
So, the giant ate his food and then went to his room. He took out his sacks of gold coins, counted them and kept them aside. Then he went to sleep.
于是巨人吃完东西进了屋子。他拿出麻袋里的钱，数了数，把它们放在一边。然后他就去睡觉了。
In the night, Jack crept out of his hiding place, took one sack of gold coins and climbed down the beanstalk.
到了晚上，杰克从他躲藏的地方爬了出来，拿了一麻袋的金币，爬下了豆茎。
At home, he gave the coins to his mother. His mother was very happy and they lived well for some time.
回家后，他把金币给了妈妈。妈妈高兴极了，他们过了一段好日子。
After a while Jack climbed the beanstalk and went to the giant’s house again.
过了一段时间，杰克又爬上了豆茎，走到巨人的屋子里。
Once again, Jack asked the giant’s wife for food, but while he was eating the giant returned.
又一次，杰克向巨人的妻子要了食物。但是当他在吃的时候，巨人回来了。
Jack leapt up in fright and went and hid under the bed.
杰克一下子跳了起来，藏在了床底下。
The giant cried, 'Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman. Be he alive, or be he dead, I’ll grind his bones to make my bread!'
巨人大声咆哮着：“Fee-fi-fo-fum，我闻到了一个英国男人的血的味道！不管他是活的还是死的，我都要磨碎他的骨头做面包！”
The wife said, 'There is no boy in here!'
他的妻子说：“这里没有人！”
The giant ate his food and went to his room. There, he took out a hen.
巨人吃完东西进了房间。这次他拿出了一只母鸡。
He shouted, 'Lay!' and the hen laid a golden egg.
他喊道：“下蛋！”然后母鸡就下了一个金蛋。
When the giant fell asleep, Jack took the hen and climbed down the beanstalk. Jack’s motherwas very happy with him.
当巨人睡着以后，杰克拿走了母鸡，又爬下了豆茎。杰克的妈妈高兴极了。
After somedays, Jack once again climbed the beanstalk and went to the giant’s castle.
过了几天，杰克又爬上了豆茎，走到巨人的城堡里。
For the third time, Jack met the giant’s wife and asked for some food. Once again, the giant’s wife gave him bread and milk.
第三次，杰克碰到了巨人的妻子，并要了些食物。又一次，巨人的妻子给了他面包和牛奶。
But while Jack was eating, the giant came home.
但是当他在吃的时候，巨人回来了。
'Fee-fi-fo-fum,I smell the blood of an Englishman. Be he alive, or be he dead, I’ll grind his bones to make my bread!' cried the giant.
“Fee-fi-fo-fum，我闻到了一个英国男人的血的味道！不管他是活的还是死的，我都要磨碎他的骨头做面包！”
'Don’t be silly! There is no boy in here!'said his wife.
“别傻了，这里没有人！”他的妻子说。
The giant had a magical harp that could play beautiful songs.
巨人带回了一把有魔力的竖琴，它可以弹奏很多美妙的歌曲。
While the giant slept, Jack took the harp and was about to leave.
当巨人睡着以后，杰克拿着竖琴，正准备离开。
Suddenly, the magic harp cried, 'Help, master! A boy is stealing
me!'
突然，魔琴大喊：“救命，主人！有个男孩想要把我偷走！”
The giant woke up and saw Jack with the harp. Furious, he ran after Jack.
巨人醒了，看见杰克拿着竖琴。巨人狂怒地追在杰克后面。
But Jack was too fast for him. He ran down the beanstalk and reached home.
但是杰克比他跑得更快。他跑下豆茎，回到了家。巨人跟在他后面。
The giant followed him. Jack quickly ran inside his house and fetched an axe.
杰克快速地跑进屋子里，取来一把斧子。
He began to chop the beanstalk. The giant fell and died.
他开始砍这个豆茎。巨人摔了下来死了。
Jack and his mother were now very rich and they lived happily ever after.
杰克和他的妈妈变得非常富有，从此过上了幸福快乐的生活。

One day, Jack’s mother told him to sell their only cow.

Jack went to the market and on the way he met a man who wanted to buy his cow.

Jack asked, 'What will you give me in return for my cow?'

The man answered, 'I will give you five magic beans!'

He climbed up the beanstalk and reached a kingdom in the sky. There lived a giant and his wife.
他爬上豆茎，到达了天上的王国。那里住了一个巨人和他的妻子。
Jack went inside the house and found the giant’s wife in the kitchen.
杰克走进房子里，看见巨人的老婆正在厨房。
Jack said, 'Could you please give me something to eat? I am so hungry!'
他说：“你能给我一些吃的么？我太饿了！”
The kind wife gave him bread and some milk.
好心的妇人给了他面包和牛奶。
While he was eating, the giant came home. The giant was very big and looked very fearsome.

Jack was terrified and went and hid inside.

The wife said, 'There is no boy in here!'

At home, he gave the coins to his mother. His mother was very happy and they lived well for some time.
回家后，他把金币给了妈妈。妈妈高兴极了，他们过了一段好日子。
After a while Jack climbed the beanstalk and went to the giant’s house again.
过了一段时间，杰克又爬上了豆茎，走到巨人的屋子里。
Once again, Jack asked the giant’s wife for food, but while he was eating the giant returned.
又一次，杰克向巨人的妻子要了食物。但是当他在吃的时候，巨人回来了。
